Punta del Este
Punta del Este is a beach town about an hour and a half east of Montevideo, sitting on a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean.

How to get there
Fly Into Montevideo
The most common way to arrive to Punta del Este is through Montevideo at its Carrasco International Airport. The distance from Montevideo to Punta del Este is 130 kms / 80 miles (approx. 1.5 hour drive)
If you are traveling from the US, the fastest route is a direct flight to Montevideo. Alternatively, you can book via Delta / Latam Airlines which includes a stop in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Santiago, Chile, or Buenos Aires, Argentina. There are also flights via Copa Airlines through Panama or via American Airlines from Miami.
If You Want to Take a Fun Detour to Buenos Aires
Uruguay and Argentina are located on opposite sides of the Rio de la Plata. Given this relative proximity, you may want to consider adding a stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina. If you plan to visit Argentina prior to the wedding, you can book a roundtrip to Buenos Aires and consider one of the following alternatives to arrive to Montevideo:
You can take a 30 minute flight departing from the smaller, domestic airport Aeroparque via Aerolineas Argentinas. You can also take a 3 hour ferry to the Port of Montevideo (visit: buquebus.com).
Alternatively, you can fly directly from Buenos Aires to Punta del Este from Aeroparque (one flight per day via Aerolineas Argentinas)

Travel from Montevideo Airport to Punta
If you choose to drive yourself, you can rent a car at Carrasco Airport.
There is also a bus service available, departing every hour, which you can book HERE or upon arrival at the airport (20 usd aprox)
